Dear WRF Help and WRF users,

I'm trying to assimilate data DS090.0 (NNRP) that consist of surface files
(grb2d) and 3-d fileds (pgb) files. I use DS090.0 (NNRP) data and Vtable
NNRP for upper air data (pgb) and Vtable NNRPCFS for surface data (grb2d) in
wrfsi.nl (as described in manual - p.3-15) running wrfprep twice.
Applying siscan to hinterp.* I receive:

So NNRP data have only 2 levels of soil temperature and moisture. That looks
consistent for me as NNRPSFC Vtable also has only 2 layers.
But in namelist.input for WRFV2 there is no option 2 layers:
(num_soil_layers = 2 <------------ 4/5/6 only)

Number of levels should be 5, 4 or 6. Of cause when I try to run real.exe
the model gives me a mistake (not enough levels):

Time period # 61 to process = 2002-12-31_00:00:00.
Time period # 62 to process = 2002-12-31_12:00:00.
Total analysis times to input = 62.

When I try to remove sf_surface_physics (that is very bad) WRF gives me just
some rubbish. I didn't try NOAH and RUC LSM but I'm sure that the result
will be the same. Number of soil levels is equal to 5 by default.
So what configuration of namelist.input should I use to run WRF with NNRP
data?
Did anyone collide with this problem or did anyone manage to use DS090.0
(NNRP) data as input for ARF WRF 2.1.2 (or with WRF2.2).
"num_soil_layers" is still 4, 5 or 6 for WRF2.2. But if there are V-Tables
to use NNRP data there sould be an option (or trick) to run WRF with NNRP
data that I don't know.

Any suggestions are highly appreciable!

Many thanks,

Running grib_prep.pl is correct. But you should also put 3D data in a
separate directory than the 2D data. Your problem could result in grib_prep
not able to degrib certain data correctly. See
http://www.mmm.ucar.edu/wrf/users/docs/user_guide/
users_guide_appA.html
"Using Multiple Data Sources" for information too.
