Hi,

There are two options for installing PyNGL 1.5.0 beta on Mac OS X.

First, we have several different Mac builds available on this page: https://www.pyngl.ucar.edu/Training/SEA2015/binaries.shtml <https://www.pyngl.ucar.edu/Training/SEA2015/binaries.shtml>

Alternatively, we have a PyNGL package that can be installed using Anaconda; installation instructions for how to install NCL (the PyNGL instructions are very similar) can be found here: http://ncl.ucar.edu/Download/conda.shtml <http://ncl.ucar.edu/Download/conda.shtml>

In order to install PyNGL, simply replace any references to “ncl” with “pyngl” in the “conda” commands, for example:
  conda create --name pyngl_test
  source activate pyngl_test
conda install --channel dbrown --channel khallock pyngl

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kevin

What is the easiest way to install PyNGL for a Mac user who uses Terminal to code.

These packages were created in the past few months and are still somewhat experimental (they do not correspond to an official release version and are essentially just development snapshots for now), and we do not yet have any relevant documentation on our website.

We have explored several options for porting PyNGL and PyNIO to Python 3, but this is still very much a work in progress. We will definitely send announcements to pyngl-talk and other appropriate mailing lists when more progress has been made.
