                inquiries, nominations, and
                applications for Chair of the Department of Earth,
                Ocean, and
                Atmospheric Science.&nbsp; The university seeks a dynamic and
                visionary
                chair to lead expansion of education and research in the
                geosciences
                and to further strengthen the department's record of
                excellence in
                research and teaching. Construction of a new research
                complex for the
                department is in the design phase and the university has
                committed resources for faculty hiring in the
                department.

                'Cambria'">The Department of Earth, Ocean and
                Atmospheric Science is an interdisciplinary program
                that currently encompasses 35 faculty members in
                geology, meteorology, and
                oceanography.&nbsp; Several members of the faculty are
                jointly affiliated with the Center for
                Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies, the Coastal Marine
                Laboratory, the Geophysical
                Fluid Dynamics Institute and the National High Magnetic
                Field Laboratory.&nbsp; The
                department has over 170 graduate students and more than
                400 undergraduate majors and
                ranks highest in the College with respect to external
                grant funding.

                distinguished and sustained record of teaching and
                research.&nbsp; The successful candidate must also possess
                excellent interpersonal, leadership,
                administrative, and managerial skills.
