We are seeking a Chief Scientist - Applied Weather that will be responsible for oversight and development of new techniques for forecasting, with an emphasis on worldwide wind, temperature and rainfall forecasting. This is a "hands-on" programming position; candidate must have extensive programming capabilities and manipulation experience with WRF.<BR>
<BR>
Essential Job Functions<BR>
<BR>
* Develop and maintain wind forecasting capabilities using WRF or a similar model.<BR>
* Develop techniques to improve rainfall and temperature forecasts.<BR>
* Study and improve long range forecasting capabilities.<BR>
* Design and create new weather product offerings.<BR>
* Respond promptly to customer and staff needs including requests for service and assistance<BR>
* Work to continually improve operational efficiencies, processes, products and services<BR>
<BR>
Required Qualifications<BR>
<BR>
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of staff and clients<BR>
* M.S. or PH. D. from four-year college or university in Meteorology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience<BR>
* Working knowledge of WRF or similar models<BR>
* Experience in wind forecasting.<BR>
* Experience with long-range forecasting.<BR>
* Ability to program in Perl and C-shell.<BR>
* Ability to leverage creative thinking and innovative ideas to meet client needs and develop new products<BR>
* Ability to exhibit balanced emotions, strong interpersonal skills and a professional appearance and demeanor at all times while managing competing demands<BR>
* Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit<BR>
* Ability to spend up to 10% of time on business travel<BR>
* Ability to demonstrate group presentation skills including public speaking<BR>
* U.S. Citizenship is required.<BR>
* Eligibility for U.S Security Clearance is required.<BR>
