The Department of Plants, Soils, and Climate
 at Utah State University
is seeking applications for a tenure track
 faculty
position in Earth System Modeling (ESM) at the assistant professor level.
The position is a key element of PSC’s growing climate program, fulfilling
the goal for research and teaching expertise on global climate systems and
predictive modeling. The position is part of a larger water cluster hire (
https://caas.usu.edu/cwi/)
.

The successful candidate will conduct research in both diagnostic and
prognostic uses of ESM
s
that simulate dynamical, physical, biological and chemical processes that
affect the Earth climate system and their complex interaction. The general
goal of this ESM position is to help address key questions such as:
processes which govern regional water cycle; present and future extreme
events; regional climate responses to climate change. Examples of the ESM
research foci include, but are not limited to: i) understanding critical
feedback and interaction processes that affect global and regional climate,
ii) understanding physical climate processes through ESM, iii) quantifying
uncertainty of predictive modeling, and iv) assessing the relationships and
feedbacks between natural climate variability and anthropogenic climate
change.
