MDA Federal, one of the largest weather and environmental information 
services firms in the US, seeks a highly-motivated individual to lead* 
*the launch and development of a new unit dedicated to serving the needs 
of clients in the agribusiness sector. The *Director of* *Agricultural 
Weather Services* will assume line responsibility for an existing suite 
of agricultural forecasting and analytic products, while also leading 
the company's expansion into new areas of agricultural risk management 
and decision support services. This highly responsible, senior-level 
role calls for a distinctive mix of technical, managerial and 
entrepreneurial talents.

*_Essential Job Functions_*

    * The Director of Agricultural Weather Services will lead the
      agribusiness division by developing agricultural risk management
      support products to facilitate revenue and growth, and will
      continually strive to improve operational efficiencies, processes,
      products and services. The core function of this position is being
      responsible for the creation and supervision of various short- and
      long-term agricultural forecast and analysis products for weather
      and crop production in areas throughout the world.  
    * The Director of Agricultural Weather Services will provide client
      management services for the agribusiness division through highly
      credible telephone consultations and seminar presentations to
      CROPCAST clients, and will resolve client issues via prompt
      customer service.
    * A key goal for the Director of Agricultural Weather Services is to
      continuously strive to build the agribusiness services unit
      through various methods, such as networking with clients,
      potential customers, teaming partners, consultants, and leaders
      within the agricultural community in order to facilitate new
      business and product development, as well as improve existing
      products and ensure client retention.
    * The position will require approximately 10% travel, including
      outreach to current and prospective clients.

 *_Required Qualifications_*

    * Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Agricultural/Applied
      Economics, Applied Statistics, Agronomy, Meteorology, or related
      field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    * Knowledge of world crops, regions and growth cycles, and of the
      effects of weather on crop yields.
    * Strong skills in the application of statistical and computational
      techniques to the analysis of agricultural data.
    * Substantial professional experience in the field of agricultural
      risk management and insurance.
    * Entrepreneurial drive, as shown by a demonstrated track record of
      success in building new ventures or initiatives.
    * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet client-driven
      deadlines.
    * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to staff and
      clients, and to be responsive to inquiries or complaints.
    * Experience managing relationships with clients and cultivating new
      business opportunities.
    * Ability to leverage creative thinking to develop new products and
      approaches that meet client needs.
    * *U.S.** Citizenship and eligibility for US security clearance are
      required*.

 *_Preferred Qualifications _*_(Not strictly essential, but would be 
viewed very favorably):_

    * Crop forecasting experience, especially in the US and South America.
    * Extensive experience with GIS, remote sensing, and geospatial
      analysis.
    * Knowledge of weather risk management tools for agriculture.
