RA-PDF Positions in Arctic Troposphere Studies

The Canadian Network for the Detection of Atmospheric Change (CANDAC) has a
new position at the Post Doctoral Level in the area of meteorology. The
major duties involve meteorological analysis in support of measurements
carried out at the Polar Environmental Atmospheric Research Laboratory
(PEARL) at Eureka (80N, 86W) in Nunavut, Canada. of pollutants in the
Arctic troposphere. Examples of such measurements include aerosol chemical
composition, number density and size distribution using an aerosol mass
spectrometer; aerosol optical thickness from sun and star photometers; trace
gas abundances and profiles from FTIR and UV-Visible instruments and
Tropospheric aerosol and ozone lidar measurements.

The duties of the appointee will include development of meteorological
fields and application of Lagrangian methods to identify source regions and
transport mechanisms of the materials detected in the measurement program.
This will include the development of advanced Lagrangian methods capable of
dealing with transport near and in the Arctic vortex. The appointee will
also liaise with other research groups involved in high latitude
meteorological studies as well as with Environment Canada meteorologists for
the
