A1: ATMOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY AND AEROSOLS

The UCLA Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences invites applications
for a full-time faculty appointment in the area of Atmospheric Chemistry and
Aerosols, emphasizing modeling and data analysis. The level of appointment
will be determined based on the candidate's experience.

The department seeks applicants with research and teaching interests in
atmospheric chemistry, composition, and aerosols. Specific research foci
include, but are not limited to, the influence of gas-phase and aerosol
chemical processes on global and regional climate change, impacts of
particle formation and transformation on atmospheric radiative properties
and human health, and the relation of future climate change to regional and
global air quality. Relevant methodologies include model formulation and
application, data assimilation, and interpretation of observations.
Candidates are encouraged whose research interests are synergistic with the
Department's existing strengths in experimental atmospheric chemistry,
remote sensing, and regional and global earth system modeling. Opportunities
exist for research affiliations with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL),
a division of the California Institute of Technology, through ongoing
collaborations between JPL and UCLA. Information about the Department,
including descriptions of the graduate program and current research
projects, may be found at http://www.atmos.ucla.edu/.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. Postdoctoral experience by the time of
appointment is preferred. Women and minority applicants are encouraged to
apply. UCLA is an affirmative action / equal opportunity employer.

Applications should include a curriculum-vitae, publication list, short
statement of teaching and research interests, and three or more names of
individuals familiar with the applicants' work who may be contacted for
letters of reference. Review of applications will begin on 15 January 2008,
and will continue until the position is filled

Applications and inquiries should be directed to:
