Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Director of the new School of Earth, Society and Environment (http://www.earth.uiuc.edu/) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Director administers a school comprised of the Departments of Atmospheric Sciences, Geography and Geology; active research programs; and baccalaureate, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees.  The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and has responsibility for administrative and budgetary decisions, educational and research policy, and for developing and leading the School's alumni and corporate relationships efforts.

Minimum qualifications:  Ph.D.; Candidates should also have qualifications appropriate to appointment with tenure, including national and international reputation for outstanding scholarly productivity in research, and demonstrated excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching.  Candidates also should demonstrate a high level of leadership and administrative abilities.

Full-time tenured faculty position.  Salary negotiable.  Starting date:  August 16, 2008 or as negotiated.
