From amodeo at ucar.edu Tue Sep 5 09:41:45 2023 From: amodeo at ucar.edu (Todd Amodeo) Date: Tue, 5 Sep 2023 09:41:45 -0600 Subject: [Nsa] 2024 NCAR EdEC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Proposal Request Message-ID: Dear colleagues, We?re writing to make you aware of a small NCAR funding opportunity for diversity, equity and inclusion-related education and outreach activities. We invite submissions from both existing programs/activities that we have previously funded, as well as new ideas. Activities should both: 1. Align with the strategic goals and initiatives for NCAR Education, Engagement, and Early Career Development (EdEC) outlined in the NCAR E&O Strategic Plan . 2. Strengthen NCAR?s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in education-related work with an emphasis on activities and training that support NCAR?s capabilities and skills in education and engagement with external partners, for example, students and faculty at MSIs, minority staff at majority schools, or with marginalized communities. We encourage the development of new activities that build upon and reinforce ongoing educational initiatives. The available funding totals $70,000, with no specific upper limit set for individual requests. Please submit your proposal here: 2024 NCAR EdEC Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Proposal Request Renewal funding will only require a short paragraph and a detailed budget request. For new ideas we ask for: 1. A description of the proposed activity, including details about the staff involved and the target audience. 2. A plan for evaluating the impact of the activity, along with an explanation of how it aligns with the NCAR E&O Strategic Plan. 3. A detailed budget outlining expenses. If applicable, please also indicate any co-funding provided by the lab. Additional guidance can be found here: 2024 NCAR EdEC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Proposal Guidance The application deadline is Friday, October 6, 2023, and funding awards will be announced by November 1. All awarded funds must be utilized by March 31, 2025. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Todd Amodeo. To: share your experience AMS Home | Online Version [image: Header is AMS logo] AMS Culture Survey Dear AMS Community The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is excited to announce our very first Culture Survey! The purpose of this Culture Survey is to understand people?s experiences with equity, inclusion, and justice (EIJ) at the AMS. We want to hear from members, volunteers, staff, and anyone who has engaged with AMS. [image: graphic with text "The AMS Culture Survey is here"] We are requesting 10-15 minutes of your time to share your experiences so we can better understand areas of strength and where we can improve. The results of this survey will guide EIJ planning and programming at AMS over the next three to five years. They will be a helpful comparison point to measure progress over time. Every voice counts in this endeavor. We need your help to create a Society that is more equitable, just, and inclusive. Please click on the button to start the survey: Culture Survey We would appreciate your response by *September 27th*. If you have questions about this survey, please email me (Katy Putsavage ) or Mikayla Branz , consultant at Integrated Work, the consulting firm supporting this assessment. URL: From anewman at ucar.edu Fri Sep 15 10:32:30 2023 From: anewman at ucar.edu (Andrew Newman) Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2023 10:32:30 -0600 Subject: [Nsa] Upcoming survey on cross-organizational training program feasibility Message-ID: Dear colleagues, We would like to draw your attention to a survey which will be sent out to all staff toward the end of September. This survey is part of a President Strategic Initiative Fund which aims at investigating the feasibility of a cross-organizational training program at NCAR/UCAR/UCP. This effort is led by staff across the institution (NCAR/UCAR/UCP), job categories, and career stages. What This anonymous survey aims to gather your opinions, feedback, and assess your interest in a possible cross-organizational training program that, if implemented, would be tailored to the needs and interests of NCAR/UCAR/UCP. Information from the survey will help: - determine the interest in a possible cross-organizational training program - determine the level of support needed for a program - provide feedback to shape the development of a program. Why This feasibility study tries to envision an expanded framework allowing all UCAR/NCAR/UCP staff (not just scientists and engineers) to gain work experience in a different lab, center, program, or office. This experience is intended to be temporary and is aimed for staff to be introduced to new science, technical and/or leadership skills. This experience can be viewed as professional development with the goal to increase cross-organizational and program collaborations, help staff develop new skills, and accelerate personal growth. Timeline The survey will be released to all staff by email near the end of September 2023 and will be open for three (3) weeks. Results will be analyzed by the team leading this effort and a short synthesis report will be made available. Thank you for your time in participating in this initiative. Please contact Patricia Monta?o (PMontano at ucar.edu) and Gunter Leguy (gunterl at ucar.edu) if you have any questions.
