I requested an update and got turned down by the IT folks; their reason had something to do with old netCDF packages and an eventual upgrade of our Linux environment, at which time it would be easier to upgrade. In the meantime I tried to unpack the latest binaries into my personal work directory and set paths appropriately, but sure enough there were some serious problems, like not being able to read variables out of a GRIB file. I have therefore mostly resigned myself to working with 6.1.2, but this morning I thought that a lot of the functions I am pining for reside in contributed.ncl, so I was wondering if I could point to the contributed.ncl that came with 6.3.0 while still running 6.1.2?
