We usually recommend downloading a pre-compiled version of NCL (see: <a href="https://www.earthsystemgrid.org/dataset/ncl.640.dap/file.html" class="">https://www.earthsystemgrid.org/dataset/ncl.640.dap/file.html</a>) unless you have a particular reason to build from source.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Which version of Ubuntu are you using? If you are using Ubuntu 14.04, the “ncl_ncarg-6.4.0-Debian7.11_64bit_gnu472.tar.gz” build is best; if you’re on a newer version of Ubuntu (16.04 for example), then I would recommend the “ncl_ncarg-6.4.0-Debian8.6_64bit_gnu492.tar.gz” download.
