[ncl-install] Unable to run ncl on my computer-x11 won't open

Hello,

I have followed all the steps on NCL website to install the necessary
programs, have X quartz. I have set the NCARG_ROOT environment
variable, added $NCARG_ROOT/bin to my search path, and turned on X11
forwarding by putting in ssh -X. Still, whenever I type in xclock I
get Error: Can't open display:

How can I move beyond this error? Please help. Thanks.
