[ncl-install] "file too big"

I'm upgrading from NCL 4.3.0 to NCL 5.1.0.  I downloaded and installed the binary in a new directory, so I can switch back and forth between versions.

It works, but I have some 5 GB files that the old version will open that the new version can't -- I get the error "fatal:File too large".

I don't know whether the old version is a binary or source install.  The system I'm working on is Linux 2.6.9-55.ELsmp #1 SMP.

Any thoughts?
