[ncl-install] Problems installing NCL

Hi,

I'm currently visiting NCAR (based in FL2).
I've just tried to install NCL onto my desktop machine, but am having trouble untarring the binary file.
When I try, I get errors along the lines of:

ebony:/usr/local> tar -xvf ~/ncl_ncarg-5.0.0.Linux_i686_gcc4.tar
include/ncarg/ngmath.h
tar: include/ncarg/ngmath.h: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Skipping to next header
include/ncarg/ncarg_ras.h
tar: include/ncarg/ncarg_ras.h: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Skipping to next header

Have I done something silly?

I'd be grateful for any help!
