[NARCCAP-discuss] ncdump

Most number crunching programs (R, matlab, etc.) have the ability to read
netCDF files.  It may be worth it to do that direction rather than use
ncdump.

I had the same problem with the MM5I/ccsm  tas data not being recognised by
ncdump or nc2text. For these files I processed them using matlab (using the
netcdf routines) and everything worked fine.

I just tried it on 3hour precipitation from MM5I/ccsm and it worked fine.
