Hi Doug,

Thanks! That was very helpful. I made a Linux gfortran build and
a PGI build on conejo. There were like three very small hiccups.
We probably don't want to document a lot of exceptions in this
document, but just to have them on record, I inserted them in the
file and attach to this email.

Best Regards,
Jonathan
Here is a first cut at such a document. I didn't document the
optional libraries yet, as I've only built one of those so far,
but I believe these instructions *should* work. I wrote them
down rather quickly, but I've built them enough times to thing
they are correct. So please feel free to correct me if something
I wrote in this is wrong.
I included the tex source and a PDF (For easy reading).
Any comments/questions are appreciated.
Hi All,

Now that PIO is required to build any MPAS dycore, should we
put together instructions for first-time builds (i.e. what
libs need to be built and common configurations that we have
worked out)? A postdoc in our group (Jonathan Graham, cc'd
here) wants to build MPAS ocean. Yesterday I could have
easily answered his question of "how do I build the ocean".
Today (with PIO now on the trunk) I am less confident that I
can work him through the process ....

Cheers,
Todd
