  Initial Request
----------------------------------------------------------------

John, we at 557th weather wing, and I would assume all DOD users, have to get MET scanned and approved for security vulnerabilities before we can run it on our newer computer systems. The security checks are per new guidance issued by Defense Information System Agency. Has any other DOD users mentioned this or have you provided any support for this task?

Thanks
Bob Craig

Bob,

That makes sense to me. While I am aware of some folks at Army
testing
ranges using MET, as well as folks at NCEP, this is the first I've
heard of
DOD security checks.

Please let us know what we can do here to facilitate this process.

Thanks,
John

Bob... hmm, don't know why I didn't go through. Here's how I replied
back
on March 13th...

John, I thought I sent this last Friday but now I am not so sure so I
will
resend.

John, As I mentioned earlier, we (all DOD users) have to approve
software
that is run on our systems (new requirement). To accomplish this we
had to
scan the code for vulnerabilities and fill out a checklist. There
were many
questions on the checklist and many related to software that has users
log
into, ran as a service on a system, or ran in a web exposed
application like
internet explorer. All questions pertaining to that we said are not
applicable. There were some questions we were either uncertain about
or
didn't know the answer and those are attached. Please review the list
and
the answers in red and see if you agree or answer them properly. View
in
HTML.

Thanks
Bob
