The dynamics of of particles freely advected by turbulent flows has many
applications in geo and engineerings sciences. We will review
observations and modeling in the case of inertial particles, i.e.
particles whose density does not match the fluid's or whose size is
larger than, typically, the Kolmogorov scale. We will then focus on size
effects and describe the dynamics of isodense particle with sizes up to
the turbulence integral scale.
