<html><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div class="">The 2017 Climate Informatics Workshop is accepting short papers (up to 3 pages) until Saturday, July 22. The workshop will be held at the Mesa Lab from September 20-22. It is a cross-disciplinary gathering between&nbsp;researchers from statistics, machine&nbsp;learning and data mining and researchers in&nbsp;climate science. &nbsp;Because climate models and observed datasets&nbsp;are increasing in complexity and volume, and because the nature of our changing climate is an urgent&nbsp;area of&nbsp;discovery, there are many opportunities for such partnerships.</div><br class="">Climate informatics broadly refers to any research combining climate science with approaches from statistics,&nbsp;machine learning and data mining. The Climate Informatics workshop series, now in its fifth year, seeks to bring&nbsp;together researchers from all of these areas. We aim to stimulate the discussion of new ideas, foster new&nbsp;collaborations, grow the climate informatics community, and thus accelerate discovery across disciplinary&nbsp;boundaries. The format of the workshop seeks to overcome cross-disciplinary language barriers and to&nbsp;emphasize communication between participants by featuring tutorials, invited talks, panel discussions, posters&nbsp;and break-out sessions.&nbsp;<div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">There will also be a hackathon on the first day of the workshop in which participants will gain hands-on experience in applying machine learning tools to a very relevant seasonal forecasting prediction problem.<br class=""><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">For more information, please visit the workshop website:&nbsp;<a href="https://www2.cisl.ucar.edu/events/workshops/climate-informatics/2017/climate-informatics-workshop" class="">https://www2.cisl.ucar.edu/events/workshops/climate-informatics/2017/climate-informatics-workshop</a>.&nbsp;</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Thank you,</div><div class="">David John Gagne</div></div></body></html>
