The successful cohort of students are expected to work collaboratively with a team of scientists in the broad area of remote sensing of hydrometeorologic and terrestrial vegetation variables, coupled land-atmosphere atmosphere modeling using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model, assimilation of remotely sensed data into offline land surface and coupled land-atmosphere models, and development and deployment of surface observations based on open source electronics (e.g., Arduinos, etc.).
