I am contacting you to make you aware of an open
tenure-track position in Atmospheric Physics
within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at
the College of Charleston. I found you because I
was looking for people that seemed to have
backgrounds and interests that are similar to what
we are looking for. Our hope is that you will
know some potential candidates and forward this to
them. Candidates must have a commitment to
excellence in teaching undergraduate physics or
astronomy (including at the introductory level),
in addition to specific courses related to the
atmospheric physics program. We expect the
successful candidate to establish and sustain an
active research program. A PhD in physics,
atmospheric physics, or a closely-related field is
required, and post-doctoral experience is
preferred.<br>

The College of Charleston has an existing BA/BS in
Physics with a concentration in Meteorology, which
we hope to expand into an Atmospheric Physics
degree. Housing this new program in our
department will allow us the opportunity to
create and shape a truly unique program that
emphasizes our strengths.<br>

The College of Charleston has a very vigorous
program in physics and astrophysics with 17
full-time faculty who are widely respected and are
dedicated teachers and researchers. Our
energetic students, currently about one hundred
majors, truly value opportunities for meaningful
undergraduate research experiences.<br>
