Best regards.</div><div>--Maura</div><div><br></div><div>Atmospheric Science Tenure-Track Faculty Position, UMASS Lowell<br><br>The Department of Environmental, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the<br>University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Atmospheric Science. Applicants <br>should have a strong background in the atmospheric sciences and demonstrate signifi cant research accomplishments in the general <br>area of global climate change. Special interests may include, but are not limited to, the greenhouse effect, climate variability, <br>air quality monitoring and modeling, or ocean-atmosphere interactions. The Department seeks a person with superior scholarly <br>credentials and a demonstrated record of funded research.<br><br>Outstanding applicants with previous research and teaching experience are encouraged to apply and will be offered a rank <br>commensurate with experience. Appointment is anticipated to be at the Associate level for a senior person but all levels, including <br>that of Assistant Professor for promising investigators, will be considered.<br><br>The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program in his/her area of research and to <br>mentor graduate students in our Master’s Program in Atmospheric Science and our PhD Program through the UMass Intercampus School of <br>Marine Sciences. The successful candidate will also teach courses in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, or air pollution in our <br>undergraduate and graduate programs. The starting date is anticipated to be fall semester, 2010.<br><br>Candidates must have an earned Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or in other related fields by the position start date, and a <br>demonstrated record of externally funded research, which supports the Department’s mission, and provide evidence for high competence <br>in teaching. Both experimental and theoretical (modeling) research is desirable and candidates should be able to speak and write <br>English clearly and have excellent interpersonal skills.<br><br>Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
