This year’s science fair for Larimer, Jackson, and Weld County students
will host over 400 middle and high school participants. We are excited to
see the enthusiasm to conduct science investigations and to present the
research to the community. We need volunteers to support these students.

Volunteer judges and display inspectors are needed on Tuesday, Feb. 14, for
the 2017 Longs Peak Science and Engineering Fair, organized by UNC's
Mathematics and Science Teaching Institute. Students, faculty and staff
with interest in youth STEM education may volunteer; a degree in a STEM
field is not needed or required.

Training will be provided the day of the fair, as will transportation
between UNC and the Island Grove Event Center, the site of the fair. You can
get more details and sign up to volunteer here
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScDqbeg8eyk80BECcYUrwu9QLSg6TFbkNp9rXDUBBLll7HPNA/viewform>.
A minimum of two hours is required between 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

More than 400 middle and high school student researchers from Weld, Larimer
and Jackson county schools are expected for the fair, which is in its 47th
year.

The mission of the fair, which is affiliated with the International Science
and Engineering Fair, is to increase student interest in science,
technology, engineering and mathematics by providing a venue for middle and
high school students to showcase their scientific and creative talents and
interact with professionals from industry and academia, as well as the
collegial population.
