Title     Scientist - Global Ocean Data

Description     INNOVIM, LLC is seeking a computational scientist to
support the development and implementation of a new Global Ocean Data
Assimilation System. The successful candidate will work closely with
scientists at the NOAA National Center for Weather & Climate Prediction and
the Univ. of Maryland. The position is located in College Park, MD and
candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree in oceanic and oceanic
sciences, applied mathematics, scientific computing, physics, or related
field.

The tasks include, but are not limited to: (1) developing a
state-of-the-art ocean data assimilation system, specifically the Hybrid
Ensemble Kalman Filter/3D-Var for the ocean, (2) processing observational
data streams for in situ temperature and salinity profiles, satellite
altimetry, and satellite along-track L2 sea surface temperature (SST), (3)
processing surface forcing fields from atmospheric reanalyses for
simulation experiments and evaluation, and (4) leading the technical
transition from the development to operations.

Requirements:  The candidate must have experience conducting large-scale
experiments in a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment.

The applicant is required to have a strong background in scientific
programming languages (e.g., Fortran90 and C), UNIX and shell scripting and
scientific software packages (e.g. NetCDF Climate Data Operators (CDO)
and/or NetCDF Operators (NCO), Grads etc.) and an interest in developing a
world class operational ocean analysis using state-of-art supercomputing at
NOAA. A candidate who is self-motivated and has worked well in a team
environment is preferred.

The candidate must be a US Citizen able to pass a NACI clearance, or
Permanent Resident or foreigners holding a working visa who has already
passed a NACI clearance.
