Dear NCAR and UCAR postdocs and graduate students, please take a minute to
read the announcement below from Carolyn Brinkworth regarding an upcoming
training series. I hope that some of you are able to sign-up.

------------------------------------------------

Good afternoon, folks.

Just wanted to draw your attention to the next UCAR|NCAR Equity & Inclusion
(UNEION) training series, which is due to start on March 17th. This is a
4-part series designed to give folks of all levels at NCAR and UCAR an
introductory crash-course in issues around diversity, equity & inclusion.
The four sessions are held monthly, and cover privilege (i.e. how and in
what ways some people can navigate our society and systems more easily than
others), gender in the workplace, race, and bystander intervention
training, which is hands-on interactive training about how to intervene in
situations that don't feel right.

Each session is preceded by about 2-3 hours of readings and videos that you
are asked to watch/read on your own time, so everyone arrives prepared for
the discussion.

The sessions are designed to be an introductory and safe space, so we do
not expect any prior training - just an interest in the subject, and a
willingness to have an open mind and to listen and consider other people's
worldviews. More information can be found on our website:
https://ncar.ucar.edu/diversity-education-outreach/uneion-ucarncar-equity-and-inclusion

We ask that you sign up by Feb 29th to give you time to do the readings
before the first session on March 17th.

If you have any questions, please just drop me an email.

thanks!

Carolyn
