Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is recruiting a postdoctoral
scientist to work on projects related to improving representations of
hydrological processes in Earth System Models. The selected candidate will
work with a team of land surface and climate modelers on 1) combining
observations and models to improve understanding of hydrological processes,
particularly those relevant to the tropical forest ecosystem, and their
interactions with vegetation and nutrients, 2) comparing different modeling
approaches and improving parameterizations of hydrological processes for
Earth System Models, and 3) synthesizing measurement data for use in
analysis and model evaluation. The position is for two years and renewable
contingent upon performance. A Ph.D. in Hydrology, Geoscience, Atmospheric
Science, or related subjects is required. Candidates with experience in
analysis and modeling of hydrological, vegetation, and biogeochemical
processes and familiarity with high performance computing, GIS, and
statistical analysis are preferred. Applications need to include:

* Cover letter describing the applicant’s research experience and interests.

* Curriculum vitae with a list of publications in refereed journals.

* Names and addresses of three references.

Interested candidates can obtain additional information from L. Ruby Leung (
