Postdoctoral Position in Global Climate Change

The Center for Ocean-Land-Atmosphere Studies is looking for a
self-motivated postdoctoral research scientist in the area of global
climate change. The incumbent will join a multi-institutional project
for climate change experiments using an advanced multi-scale model of
climate system, SP-CESM (Super Parameterized Community Earth System
Model). The selected candidate will investigate the effect of increased
greenhouse concentrations on the Earth’s climate system with the aim of
understanding the mechanisms responsible for the projected climate
changes. Particular attention will be given to dynamical and
cloud-radiative processes, extreme events, and coupled ocean-atmosphere
feedback mechanisms in future climate scenarios. The successful
candidate is also expected to take a leadership role in preparation of
manuscripts for publication and conference participation.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in atmospheric sciences or a related field,
with experience in climate variability or climate change.
The appointment will be for one year, with renewal for a second year,
given satisfactory performance. For consideration, interested and
qualified applicants should submit a cover letter including a statement
of research interests, a curriculum vita, and contact information of two
professional references to the COLA PostDoc Search Committee (Dr.
Cristiana Stan, chairperson; stan at cola.iges.org). Applications received
before 15 December 2012 will receive highest priority.
