[Grad-postdoc-assn] Thompson Lecture Series, October 24-26

Dear Postdocs,

On October 24-26 Professor Andrew Dessler from Texas A & M University will be visiting as the fall ASP Thompson Lecture Series lecturer. Professor Dessler is an expert in both the science and policy of climate change. We are excited to have Professor Dessler visit as part of the TLS.

For those unfamiliar with the TLS, the TLS is held twice per year. As part of the TLS an eminent scholar visits NCAR for several days, giving two seminars as well as interacting closely with postdocs. This represents an excellent opportunity to learn from a prominent scientist. Discussions extend beyond the realm of science, and the TLS represents a great chance for gaining career advice.

I would like to draw your attention to a few events in particular. First, as part of the career discussion on the first morning, Professor Dessler will be giving a brief, informal, presentation on "How I became a spokesman for the climate". This is sure to be an interesting presentation so please be sure to attend the career discussion.

Last, we will be having a potluck dinner on Tuesday Oct 24. The ASP will provide vegetarian lasagna and a mixed green salad. All postdocs and their families are welcome to attend.
