Dear all,

Apologies for the spam, but I know more than one person at NCAR who would
find this kind of event cool. :-) Thus I am circulating the announcement
widely!

Enjoy,
Vanessa

==Description==

Do you have a MacGyver-like penchant for creating art and science projects
out of LEDs, beer bottles, and rubber bands? Can someone look at your
photography or paintings and instantly tell that you were a child of the
80s? Do things that glow in the dark, light up, shoot electricity, and
scare your neighbors titillate your senses? Does the macabre spectacle of a
circus sideshow entice you? If so, denhac has an event for you…

denhac, the Denver Hackerspace, is sponsoring GeekShow – a geek/nerd art,
music, and variety act extravaganza held at 3 Kings Tavern. Entries should
be geared towards a techie/nerd/geek/steampunk/circus/carnival theme. Music
and some variety acts will be performing upstairs, while art/crafts and
additional variety acts will be downstairs. If you wish to display your
artwork without representing it in person, it can be hung up on the ample
wall space downstairs in advance, providing that it has the proper hardware
for hanging. You can also show your artwork at a table.

denhac is a non-profit hackerspace founded in 2008. Err, wait, what’s a
hackerspace?

Hackerspaces are simply places for people to learn, work on technical
projects, socialize, and collaborate. denhac offers a community space for
classes and events, ranging from lock picking to information security, to
hardware hacking. Proceeds from the event will benefit future community
events and classes.
