> Applications are invited for a University Assistant (post-Ph.D. level position) position in Mesoscale Dynamics and Modeling at the University of Vienna.

> The successful applicant will be part of the new Mesoscale Dynamics and Modeling group within the Department of Meteorology and Geophysics at the University of Vienna. It is expected that the successful candidate will actively contribute to the current and future research projects within the group by leading numerical modeling activities. In coordination with the group head (Vanda Grubišić), s/he will also be able to develop her/his own project within the general area of terrain-induced circulations and orographic precipitation. The position offers an opportunity for involvement in large international research efforts (e.g. HyMeX). In addition to research, regular duties include teaching courses at the undergraduate (B.Sc. program) and graduate (M.S. program) level and as well as involvement in research training of graduate students. Candidates with at least two years of post-doctoral experience in mesoscale numerical modeling are particularly encouraged to apply.
> QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS. A Ph.D. in meteorology, atmospheric science or a related field, experience in numerical modeling and handling of large data sets, above-average programming skills (Fortran 90/95, C, Unix/Linux, MPI), background in atmospheric processes in complex terrain and/or precipitation processes, strong verbal and written communication skills, and good knowledge of the English language are required (knowledge of German is welcome but not required). Prior experience with the WRF model and data assimilation is desirable. Independence, strong problem-solving skills, and an ability to work efficiently as part of a team are essential.

> SALARY. Salary is determined by the salary system of the University of Vienna and can be commensurate with professional qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. In addition the rules of the Austrian employment law apply.
