Hi!
Our monthly seminar series is scheduled in the next Wednesday (15th).
He is well aware of our diverse scientific backgrounds and planing to
deliver from the basic science concepts to his current research topics
to get out of something each one of us. We will also have a lunch
discussion session with him that is followed by the seminar at Chapman Room.
Simona recommended Dave as a seminar speaker but we are not sure she
can make this or not. Congratulations Simona for the new family member
Jacopo! and we will make sure record and upload the seminar!

Thanks
The ASP seminar committee (Chuck, Ethan, Knut, Xiaoli, and Saewung)

Understanding the atmospheric circulation response to anthropogenic forcing

Abstract:
Observations and numerical experiments suggest stratospheric
ozone depletion has driven past changes in the extratropical
circulation. Climate change simulations driven by future increases
in carbon dioxide suggest similar changes are likely in the future.
But the physical mechanisms that drive the observed and
simulated trends remain unclear.
In this overview, I will survey the evidence for past and predictions
for future trends in the extratropical circulation; I will examine the
mechanisms thought to underlie the trends; and I will review
recent efforts to identify the key mechanisms using simple
atmospheric models.
