[Grad-postdoc-assn] Thompson Series election results

Hi everyone -

After discussion about each nominee's prominence, scientific breadth, consistency
with recent Thompson lecturers, and overall fit with program goals, we eliminated
two candidates and voted.

The 1st and 2nd place vote recipients for the Spring 2008 lecture were,
respectively, Inez Fung and Raymond Pierrehumbert. After declaring Dr. Fung
ineligible for the Fall 2008 vote, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place vote recipients for
Fall 2008 were: Raymond Pierrehumbert, Jeffrey Hughes, and George Philander.

The vote tallies were:
