taking all available data from a selection of atomic datasets. When additional
data is put into one of the atomic datasets, this will change the result. In
order to be able to go back and reproduce the earlier version, the archive
should be able to provide the atomic dataset in its earlier state – i.e.
an earlier version of the dataset.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

should not get mixed up with model versions, or experiment versions. The sort
of version the Met Office want would probably sit in the METAFOR CIM,

UKMO has flagged up a use case where an atomic dataset might change over time
without being a new version. The example is the 1000 year piControl run
where UKMO is likely to deliver it in several time chunks and would want it to
be published before the full run is complete. Since atomic datasets
represent the whole time period these datasets will grow over time.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
