river sediment and biogeochemistry fluxes using the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s <a href="https://e3sm.org/"><span style="text-decoration:none">Energy Exascale Earth System Model</span></a> (E3SM).</span><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p style="margin:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;background:white"><span style="font-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">The candidates will work with a team of scientists across multiple national laboratories to test and improve the capabilities
of E3SM in modeling river hydrology as well as sediment and biogeochemistry (carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus) fluxes. The candidate will work on evaluating the models against observations of discharge, sediment, carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus as well as conducting
numerical experiments to address important science questions related to human-land-river-ocean interactions, such as the evolution of coastal hypoxia under climate and land use change, in focused regions and across the globe. This position offers exciting
opportunities to collaborate on a number of DOE funded research projects at PNNL that focus on developing coastal modeling capabilities in earth system models such as the Integrated Coastal Modeling (ICoM) project.</span><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black"><o:p></o:p></span></p>
