<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:"Helvetica Neue";color:black">Postdoctoral Associate will be analyzing mercury and other trace metals and metalloids in diverse fish, shellfish, and seaweeds collected from New York's marine waters
over a one-year period. Attempts will be made to compare contaminant concentrations in biological tissues between seasons. Focus will primarily be on mercury in fish due to its danger to public health, but other potentially toxic metals (e.g., copper, lead,
cadmium) will also be assessed in various fish and shellfish that are commonly consumed as seafood and as indicators for the health of the marine environment. Metal analyses will use state-of-the-art instrumentation to establish baselines for each of these
elements in each species. Statistical treatment of the data will determine if there are any consistent relationships between concentrations of specific metals in biota.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
