The Department of Meteorology and Climate Science at SJSU is seeking applicants with a specialization in wildfire remote sensing and fire behavior with expertise in either satellite and/or airborne observations of wildfire. This is one of five new positions within a cluster hire for the SJSU Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center (WIRC).<br><br>Job Opening ID (JOID#): 25210<br>Rank: Assistant Professor of Meteorology (tenure-track)<br><br>Qualifications:<br>Applicants MUST have completed a PhD in Atmospheric Science or Earth Sciences, or a closely-related field by the start of the appointment. The applicant must have expertise in wildfire behavior using remote sensing platforms including airborne and/or satellite sensor systems. Postdoctoral experience is preferred as well as a record of publication in the wildfire sciences. Applicants are expected to develop a recognized and externally-funded program in wildfire research and contribute to the SJSU Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center. Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.<br><br><br>Responsibilities:<br>SJSU values quality teaching, and this will be reflected in the ability to gain promotion and tenure. The successful candidate:<br>● Will be expected to teach a range of courses that over time will include General Education, and undergraduate (BS) and graduate (MS) courses in Wildfire Science and Meteorology and Climate Science.<br>● May develop new courses in his/her area of expertise.
