The research activities rely on seismological inversion and data assimilation techniques. A primary goal of the project is to develop full-waveform imaging strategies for constraining mantle anisotropic elastic properties in subduction zone settings. Geodynamic simulations will provide synthetic seismological models for this purpose. Imaging techniques will then be applied to real seismic datasets collected at two focus sites--the Cascadia Subduction Zone and the Mediterranean. The successful applicant will work in close collaboration with a geodynamic group based at University of Padova, seismologists at INGV-Bologna, as well as with a network of scientists that will actively collaborate on the project.</div><div class="" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><br class=""></div><div class="" style="caret-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">The candidates should hold a PhD in Geophysics-Seismology and should have experience in seismic data processing and inversion of single/multiple seismic phases (body and surface waves) with full-waveform methods.
