The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has a job vacancy for a Geologist 2 position, within the Water Supply Engineering Section of the Water Quality Bureau located in Des Moines, IA. The Geologist 2 collects, manages, organizes, and analyzes groundwater
 and well information related to public wells for the State's Source Water Protection program.  More specifically, the position is responsible for:<br>

The collection and management all public well information for Iowa's public water supplies. Utilizing GIS software to update the Source Water Protection Program's "Public Wells" geospatial database with new information. Ensuring all other state well databases
 are continuously updated with accurate and complete public well information.<br>

Produce accurate source water protection areas for all groundwater-sourced public water supplies utilizing GIS software, pump test analysis software, groundwater modeling software, and geo-scientific resources. Updating the Source Water Protection Program's
 "Groundwater Capture Zone" geospatial database with new source water areas. Ensuring all dependent web-applications are updated with the current groundwater capture zone information.<br>

 Creating a "Phase 1" Assessment when a new community water supply is formed and updating as needed.  Assessments are updated when new public wells are drilled, existing public wells are activated, new local hydro geologic information is available, or a request
 is made by the community.  Review and edit all "Phase 2" Plans submitted to the Source Water Protection Program.  Provide technical assistance to all community water supplies and stakeholders completing Phase 2 plans.<br>
