 (SEAS), the Department of Climate and Space Sciences and Engineering (CLaSP), seeks outstanding candidates for a postdoctoral scholar position.  The successful candidate will lead research at the intersection of hydrology and atmospheric science in high performance
 computing environments.  Specific research foci include testing numerical models across new spatial domains, calibration, validation, and uncertainty assessment, and understanding land-atmosphere interactions.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;background:white"><span style="font-size:13.5pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif;color:#444444">The selected scholar will work with Dr. Andrew Gronewold (SEAS and CEE), and Dr. Allison Steiner and Dr.
 Ricky Rood (both of CLaSP) on development, testing, and application of state-of-the-art hydrological models to select spatial domains.  A specific goal of this research is to advance foundational hydrological modeling not only within SEAS and CLaSP, but across
 all units of the University of Michigan, through deployment of hydrological models and data within the University’s high performance computing environment.  It is also expected that the selected scholar will advance visualization and dissemination of hydrological
 modeling output through use of existing tools such as the Weather Research and Forecasting Hydological model (WRF-Hydro) HydroInspector.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;background:white"><span style="font-size:13.5pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif;color:#444444">The envisioned research will be based on application and testing of WRF-Hydro.  Potential domains of interest
 include, but are not limited to, the Laurentian Great Lakes, the East African Great Lakes, or High Mountain Asia.  Technical areas of research are likely to include model calibration and validation, and identification of suitable meteorological forcing data. 
 The envisioned research will leverage partnerships with scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;background:white"><span style="font-size:13.5pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif;color:#444444">The successful candidate will be expected to publish in the peer-reviewed literature, present research results
 at scientific conferences, and assist in developing proposals for external funding.  The position offers a competitive salary with funding available for travel.  The position has an initial duration of one year, with the potential for a second year contingent
