The Coastal Resources Scientist 4 position performs functions essential to coastal restoration and flood protection and is located in the New Orleans Regional Office (NORO), Operations Division of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA). Work
involves a high level of expertise and multi-disciplinary experience (e.g. wetland ecology, hydrology, fisheries) for the successful operation, monitoring, and outreach engagement for CPRA's river diversion projects. Examples of work include independent decision
making critical to the management, operations and governance (i.e. Technical and Advisory Committees) of the Caernarvon, Davis Pond, Mid-Barataria and Mid-Breton freshwater diversions. Work also includes the management of statewide multi-million dollar fisheries
and USGS hydrologic contracts, as well as regular data management, in-depth analysis, and comprehensive reporting for the Barataria and Breton Basins. Because of the large scale impacts of diversions to multiple user groups, the position will be higher profile
and will require frequent interaction with CPRA administration, government officials (local, state, federal), CPRA partners (e.g. NGO's), fishing industry representatives, media, and the general public, which will necessitate strong public speaking and interpersonal
skills. Much of the work involves technical issues for which there may be little precedent and which require balancing economic, environmental, and social considerations on topics, which may be very controversial.

The maximum salary for the Coastal Resources Scientist 4 is $84,074 annually.
The special entrance rates established for this position is $2,192.80 bi-weekly.
