It develops, tests, and disseminates a scalable approach for achieving transformative shifts in urban development to put cities on a path to zero-carbon emissions. Our consortium (DIE, UNU-EHS, WRI, IIED) and our local partners will identify and catalyse high-impact projects in our pilot cities. These will function first as leverage points to shrink carbon emissions, conserve biodiversity, and use land, water and other resources more efficiently, while simultaneously addressing poverty reduction and inclusion, and second as demonstrations of transformative governance approaches that can be scaled, shared, and replicated.
