<h1><span style="color:windowtext">Basic Summary:<o:p></o:p></span></h1>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Diversity Joint Venture for Conservation Careers (DJV) is a partnership of federal and state agencies, universities, non-governmental organizations, foundations, and professional societies that work together to increase the number of
 women and people of color in the conservation workforce.  Positions in the field of conservation preserve and protect natural resources.  Such jobs emphasize the sciences but also include research, management, policy, and interpretative expertise.  One of
 the DJV’s objectives is to support inclusive work environments in the conservation workforce.   To address this objective, the DJV’s Inclusion Working Group will compile a list of best practices, case studies, and metrics to promote inclusion in conservation
 organizations.  This research will result in a toolkit that outlines steps and resources for organizations to become more inclusive.  The toolkit and all other collected documents will be available to the public via the DJV website.  
<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Position Function</b>: An Inclusion Intern will support the DJV by (1) developing a framework for the toolkit based on input from the Inclusion Working Group; and (2) conducting research to find best practices, articles, examples and
 metrics for each piece of the toolkit.  Time and resources permitting in a second phase of the effort, the intern will assist a consultant(s) to (a) provide a version of the full toolkit to the working group for review and comment; (b) draft a revised version
 for review by the DJV; (c) finalize and submit for design; (d) assist the working group and communication team in developing the online version of the toolkit; and (e) help to launch toolkit on the DJV website.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The Inclusion Intern will become a temporary employee of Defenders of Wildlife (Defenders) and be housed in their Human Resources Department under the guidance of the Vice President for People and Culture. The timeframe for the effort is
