 a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources." In keeping with this mission, the Council has launched an initiative that builds upon and expands decades of research on increasing understanding of demographic trends and their consequences
 for human welfare and the environment. The Population, Environment and Climate Change (PERCC) Initiative will conduct research that integrates population variables into the environmental and climate change sciences; and informs relevant policies by promoting
 new evidence-based approaches rooted in the Council's expertise in gender, health, and poverty. The initiative will include a focus on urbanization and migration as areas that are inextricably linked as both the causes and consequences of environmental risks. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

 from five campuses and <a href="http://www2.cuny.edu/about/centers-and-institutes/demographic-research/faculty-staff/"><b><span style="color:black">associated faculty affiliates</span></b></a> from throughout the university. CIDR aims to have strong linkages,
 both formal and informal, with other demographically oriented institutions and agencies in the New York area. Several faculty and associates at CIDR focus their research on population dynamics and environmental change topics. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="background:white"><span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Verdana",sans-serif;color:black">The post-doctoral fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate with a growing team of researchers located at the Council’s headquarters
 in New York and its 13 offices around the world as well as with faculty and researchers at CIDR. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to divide their time between their own on-going research (for instance, developing PhD thesis chapters into publishable articles)
 and collaborative research with Population Council and CIDR mentors and colleagues. Fellows are also expected to participate in activities undertaken by the PERCC Initiative including the development of joint research projects, seminars, and capacity building
