is seeking to fill a position as tenure-track Specialist at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Climate Resilience. This position is one of four tenure-track faculty hires foundational to a state-wide, strategic water initiative. The position is a
12-month appointment and located at the SC Water Resources Center building ten minutes from the main campus. The desired starting date is July 1, 2019.

Clemson University is an R1 Land Grant university located on the shores of Lake Hartwell within view of the Blue Ridge Mountains
in the Upper Piedmont of South Carolina, USA. The 1,400-acre campus is part of the 18,000 acres of University Farms and Forests devoted to teaching and research. Clemson University is recognized as a Top 25 public university by U.S. News and World Report.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally-recognized, externally-funded research program on climate resilience.
A changing climate will result in measurable impacts to the regional water cycle and water availability in South Carolina, likely affecting agricultural production on multiple levels at multiple scales. For Clemson Public Service and Agriculture (PSA) to become
a leader and information resource for community and state decision-makers, PSA needs to address community resiliency and water management under changing climate conditions. This position provides science-based information to state agencies and local governments
about the water resource impacts to changes in sea level, drought, and other climate-related issues related to agricultural, residential, and environmental water use. This specialist hire would serve the full PSA and Clemson University community in identifying
how research on climate changes will impact South Carolina natural resources, management decisions and agriculture. The individual would then work amongst all Extension program teams to guide program development that will increase community and client planning
and preparedness under changing weather patterns and resulting ecological impacts. The person selected for this position will have an affiliation with the S.C. Water Resources Center and work closely with on- and off-campus research and extension personnel,
external stakeholders, and state/regional/national government agencies. Upon request, a joint appointment with the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences is available to foster collaborative research, teaching and graduate student advising
opportunities.
