<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">The Critical Zone Pedology Lab in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at the University of Kentucky invites applications for either a MS or a PhD graduate research assistantship.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design a project or choose from several projects focused on understanding soil formation and critical zone evolution in Kentucky and the Ohio River Valley. The candidate is expected to manage the project,
thorough sampling, laboratory and statistical analyses, presentation at scientific conferences and the production of peer-reviewed publications.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Candidates should have either a BS or MS degree in soil science, environmental science, geology or a closely-related field if applying for a MS or PhD assistantship, respectively.
MS applicants should have basic background in soil science, including laboratory and field experience. PhD applicants should have strong laboratory and quantitative skills, with experience in standard soil laboratory analysis, statistical programs (i.e. R,
Matlab), and geostatistical software (i.e. ArcMap, SAGA, QGIS) preferred. Starting stipend is $18000 for MS students and $21000 for PhD students, with full tuition and health insurance.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
