<p class="MsoNormal">The U.S. EPA is hiring an Air and Energy National Program Director.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">This position is located in the Immediate Office of the Assistant Administrator (IOAA), Office of Research and Development (ORD). ORD is the scientific research arm of EPA, and ORD's leading-edge research helps provide the solid underpinning
 of science and technology for the Agency. The IOAA for ORD supports six cross-cutting research programs that identify the most pressing environmental health research needs with input from other EPA organizations, partners, and stakeholders. The six national
 programs are: Air and Energy; Safe and Sustainable Water Resources; Sustainable and Health Communities; Chemical Safety for Sustainability; Human Health Risk Assessment; and Homeland Security Research. The ORD Deputy Assistant Administrator for Science supervises
 the activities of the national research programs and their directors, and the national program directors provide high-level, scientific leadership, coordination, and management of the research portfolios that support EPA's strategic goals.

<p class="MsoNormal">The Air and Energy National Program Director leads a coordinated Air and Energy (A-E) research program and ensures that ORD’s products and services in this area effectively serve the needs of EPA’s programmatic, regional and external stakeholders
 over the short, medium, and long term. The research program for A-E focuses on supporting the critical science to develop and implement the National Ambient Air Quality Standards under the Clean Air Act. The research program fosters innovative approaches to
 ensure clean air in the context of environmental changes and evolving energy technologies.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Specific responsibilities include:<o:p></o:p></p>
<ul style="margin-top:0in" type="disc">
<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Formulating research project goals, objectives, and deliverables.<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Collaborating with ORD Laboratory, Center, and Office Directors and their senior staffs in project planning activities to assure that research goals and objectives are achieved.<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Working with senior scientific staff in the ORD Laboratories, Centers, and Offices to plan and coordinate scientific reviews of the research program by the Board of Scientific Counselors.<o:p></o:p></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">Serving as ORD's principal spokesperson for the A-E research program and representing the ORD research program throughout the Agency and broader Federal and external stakeholder communities.<o:p></o:p></li></ul>
