 to serve as the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME). The University of Colorado CEAS is undergoing a period of unprecedented faculty growth and expansion to match an ambitious vision of research and teaching excellence. The Department of
 Mechanical Engineering has 1000+ BS students, 130+ MS students, and 100+ PhD students. Since 2014, the number of staff has increased from 8 to 14 and that of faculty has increased from 32 to over 50.  Our program is ranked in the top 20 public universities,
 located in one of the top three entrepreneurial cities in the country, and co-located with NIST, NCAR, NOAA and NREL. Our mission includes a strong emphasis on high impact research, project-based education, inclusive excellence and interdisciplinary technology

 of the department at the national and international levels; lead and support external development opportunities; be an advocate for the department; create cooperation opportunities with industry partners; develop resources to strengthen the long-term viability,
 efficiency, and effectiveness of the department's research and teaching programs; attract and recruit world-class faculty, high-caliber students and staff; provide oversight to departmental staff operations and performance; promote collaborative research within
 the department, CEAS and across CU; administer the departmental budget; and mentor faculty at different stages of their career. Each term of the Chair is 4 years with an option for another 4-year extension. The successful candidate will also hold the Endowed
 Leadership Chair in Mechanical Engineering.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

 of excellence in teaching, research and service; demonstrated effective leadership, management and communication with faculty, staff, students, and other administrators; commitment to diversity and inclusion as it applies to faculty, staff and students; familiarity
 with national trends in undergraduate and graduate education; knowledge about external funding priorities and opportunities; and a strong collaboration record and willingness to collaborate with others.  Leaders in industry or government labs are welcome to
