<div class=""><b class="">Postdoctoral Associate: Developing computational frameworks for analyzing sea-level change and projecting future sea-level rise and coastal flood risk</b></div>
<div class=""><br class="">
</div>
<div class="">The Rutgers University Earth System Science & Policy lab is seeking a postdoctoral scientist or engineer with a strong computational background to join its work on interpreting the drivers of past and current sea-level rise and on assessing and
managing future sea-level changes and coastal flood risks. The postdoctoral researcher will join a transdisciplinary, multi-institutional collaboration whose projections have been used by other researchers, by economic analysts, and by federal, state, and
local stakeholders around the United States.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
The postdoctoral researcher will work with scientists in the Earth System Science & Policy Lab to develop computational frameworks for integrating multiple lines of evidence statistically to interpret and attribute ongoing sea-level rise, for linking modern
observations to geological reconstructions, and for projecting future sea-level change and coastal flood risk. The position will be in collaboration with the RADICAL Laboratory, in the Rutgers School of Engineering, and the Department of Data Driven Discovery
at Brookhaven National Laboratory.<br class="">
<br class="">
</div>
<div class="">The postdoctoral researcher will work within the Rutgers Institute of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences as part of a new initiative linking together the Earth system sciences, statistics, and computer science/engineering, and will collaborate
with sea-level scientists nationally through the NASA Sea Level Change Team.<br class="">
<br class="">
</div>
<div class="">A PhD in an Earth system science, computational science or engineering, or data science discipline is required. A strong computational background, including familiarity with high-performance computing environments, is essential. Familiarity with
Bayesian statistical methods and spatio-temporal statistical methods are a plus, as are strong writing skills. Interest in climate modeling, sea-level physics and ice-sheet physics is essential, although past experience in these areas is not required.</div>
