<p class="MsoNormal">The Oklahoma Geological Survey is seeking a geologist with a background in organic petrology, coal geology, and/or petroleum geology. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to a state agency whose charge is to
investigate and promote the wise use of Oklahoma’s land, water, mineral, and energy resources. The successful candidate will work individually and with others to characterize and understand the origin and evolution of coals, hydrocarbon source rocks, and
solid hydrocarbon resources (e.g., asphaltites) in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Geological Survey is part of the Mewbourne College of Earth and Energy at the University of Oklahoma on the Norman campus.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Responsibilities:<o:p></o:p></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Conduct investigations of coals, hydrocarbon source rocks, and solid hydrocarbon resources in Oklahoma<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Publish and present results of scientific investigations<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Serve the general public, particularly by providing information and technical assistance to operators, consultants, and the public on a regular basis<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Participate in and lead geologic field trips<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Maintain databases and bibliographies of coal, gas shales, source rocks, and basins in Oklahoma<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Physical Condition: Should be in good physical condition for walking, carrying fifty pounds up to ½ mile, loading and unloading equipment, and digging and trenching to collect samples<o:p></o:p></p>
